End of Spring, Beginning of Summer

It's already July and we have some catching up to do on this blog! I blame it on a very busy spring and a camera that intermittently stopped working. I did, however, manage to get a few snapshots from the past month or two. 

We spent much of May and June playing t-ball and softball. This is H's buddy who was on her t-ball team. Her big sister was on V's team so these two could play whenever the big sisters had a game. 

H was ready for t-ball to end but is already looking forward to playing again next year. V enjoyed it to the end and is looking forward to AAA softball next year.

We were blessed with a relaxing weekend away at the Kelley's cabin in the middle of the busy month. That's V in the middle of the Metolius and H with M on the bank. You can see the cabin's roof in the top right. We played, hiked, roasted marshmallows and enjoyed being together as a family and with our friend who shared this little piece of bliss with us.

There were end of season award night pizza parties and end of school-year parties and field trips...

Then H graduated from kindergarten. She had a great year and she can be proud of the work she accomplished, ending with an excellent report card and great memories. 

She unfortunately caught the flu right before graduation and had to miss the graduation at school but they kindly gave us a mortar board so we could at least take a picture later. (This was taken today as you can see since she has short hair and a summer tan.)

Last weekend was an old-fashioned Fourth of July...

of course there was backyard baseball, a barbeque, and night fireworks. Just as it should be.

So far most of their summer days have been spent here, in the pool. Playing with each other and inviting friends over.

It is such happy noise to hear them belly laughing and splashing around. My favorite sound is the girls having fun together. I also love that they want to be outside rather than inside staring at a computer. So worth the zero dollars it cost us. (One of my best frugal projects so far–which is as much fun for me as swimming is for them.)

The girls had their first lesson on the sewing machine making curtains for the playhouse so it could be used as a "pool house." This is much better than trails of water through the house and they're having fun playing in it again now that we've repainted and spruced it up.
