Field Trips

Both girls had field trips this week. V went to Mission Mill and a walking history tour of Salem. I didn't get many pictures of V's field trip because it was more of a speed-walking tour. There was a lot of ground to cover in one day but V enjoyed it. We've been to Mission Mill several times before but learned a few new things on this tour and discovered some new interesting spots to go back and visit. We'll go back again to a few of the places this summer when we can spend more time. V loves history and is so happy to be doing a Salem history unit in school right now. Ask her about it–she like to talk about what she's learning. 

H went to the local dairy. The owner and owner's daughter gave us a tour. Such a friendly, hard working family and it was nice to see the christian flag flying outside. Their kids went to SAC as well.
H fed this very hungry calf. It pushed and pulled on the bottle a little more than H was comfortable with but she was brave. I made the mistake of leaning down to pick up a bottle for another little boy and this same calf tried to suck on my hair. Calves are very slobbery, we know this now.

Then they went on a hay ride that took them through the barn holding all the very curious mama cows and ended up in the back where all the feed is kept. They let the kids climb up and slide down this giant hill of cotton seed. (Friesen clan–it reminded me so much of playing in Grandpas sawdust hill behind the shop!)
